Music Mountain, America's longest running summer chamber music festival, announces the lineup for its 2018 Twilight Concert Series! This summer welcomes nine new ensembles to Music Mountain bringing a Latin flair, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and the spirit of New Orleans jazz! "This year our Twilight Series highlights major figures in jazz, such as Monk, Coltrane and Ellington, as well as major traditions-New Orleans jazz, Swing Era classics and the American Songbook-; the Music Mountain Jazz Opening Night on June 16 offers a hard-to-match event with two-time Grammy Award-Winner, Ted Nash Quartet, you can't miss it!" writes Oskar Espina-Ruiz, Music Mountain artistic director. Favorite returning guests celebrate Gilbert & Sullivan, Big Band, and a splash of Broadway! Concerts are scheduled thru September 22.
Ted Nash Quartet opens the Twilight Series on Saturday, June 16 (6:30pm). Two-Time Grammy Award Winner Ted Nash is a vital part of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Whether playing with Wynton Marsalis, his own big band, or various small groups, Nash expertly pushes artistic boundaries while staying true to the fundamentals of jazz.
The Twilight Series Opening Night with Ted Nash Quartet on June 16 offers both regular tickets and a VIP Event Pass that includes a Green Room Meet & Greet with the artists; an autographed copy of the artist's latest album (CD and vinyl); a bottle of wine of the artist's own Two Notes label; and priority seating at the concert.
The season continues with an outstanding blend of jazz ensembles playing the best of the blues, Dixieland, and swing including Jive By Five, Helen Sung Quartet, Peter & Will Anderson Quartet, Swingtime Big Band, New Cuban Express Quartet, Galvanized Jazz Band, Josh Lawrence & Color Theory, Amina Figarova Quintet, Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet, The Bridge Trio, Roxy Coss Quintet, and Bert Seager and The Why Not.
The Saturday Evening Twilight Series features pre-concert dinners at the charming Falls Village Inn. Experience a piece of history built over 175 years ago that helped shape the history of Falls Village.
Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to Gordon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available. Music Mountain is supported, in part, by the Connecticut Commission On Culture & Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Twilight Series Concerts are $30. Concert & Dinner Passes are available for all Twilight Series Concerts for $70, including Pre-Concert Dinner (5pm) at The Fall Village Inn, a Litchfield County landmark-Classic American comfort fare, seasonal-and 6:30 pm Twilight Concert at Music Mountain. Regularly scheduled Chamber Music Concerts are $35. Children ages 5-18 are admitted FREE to ALL CONCERTS when accompanied by a ticket holder. Saturday evening Twilight Concerts are at 6:30 pm.
