There's no place like home for the holidays, and there's no better way to get in the spirit than with holiday music...right in Ridgefield! A contemporary repertoire will regale in the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra's A Very Holiday Pops concert on Saturday, December 7, at 8 p.m. at the Anne S. Richardson Auditorium, featuring Jessica Medoff, an award-winning vocalist known for her versatility in theater and concert performance. A highlight will be Farmingville School's fourth and fifth graders' rendition of "Jingle Bell Rock", accompanied by the RSO. Tickets are $25-60 at ridgefieldsymphony.org.

The Ridgefield Playhouse will present more holiday events than ever before. Broadway's Linda Eder, who won critical acclaim for her leading Broadway role in Jekyll & Hyde, will bring her new CD Christmas Where You Are to the concert stage along with her 7-piece band in a brand new holiday show at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. From "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Ave Maria" and "O Holy Night" to "Baby, It's Cold Outside", Linda Eder's extraordinary vocal range will make the yuletide sing and swing.

When Rockapella performs their "Rockapella Holiday" on Thursday, December 12, at 8 p.m., it will sound like a full band that plays everything from rock, pop and jazz to hip hop and all the holiday favorites! The five uniquely talented musicians set the standard for a cappella entertainment.

The holidays would not be complete without The Nutcracker, the holiday classic ballet, which makes a perfect annual family event to experience live theater. The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance's Nutcracker takes place at The Ridgefield Playhouse in four dazzling performances: Saturday, December 14, at 2 & 6 p.m., and Sunday, December 15, at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m. Tchaikovsky's soaring score, beautiful ballerinas, wooden soldiers and a bigger-than-life Christmas tree will dazzle. Presented by The Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance under the direction of Terence Duncan and Christina Paolucci, this year's beloved event will be performed with care by the talented dancers of the Ridgefield Conservatory alongside professional dancers.

Holiday Spectacular returns to the Ridgefield Playhouse with Tony-winner Debbie Gravitte who will showcase an impressive array of family-friendly songs, stories, and dance featuring local talent and guest stars on Thursday, December 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, December 20, at 5 p.m. & 8 p.m.

Consummate entertainer John Tesh and his Big Band Orchestra will be "swinging" into town for "a Merry Little Christmas" on Saturday, December 21, at 8 p.m. at The Ridgefield Playhouse. John and fourteen performers will play a holiday repertoire in the big band style and treat the audience to piano solos and charm with John's engaging rapport.

The gift of musical experiences is hard to beat, and choices abound. Tickets to see and hear a live orchestra, singers, dancers, comedians, Broadway & cabaret stars, family, children's and wellness events will give your friends, family and colleagues something to look forward to throughout the year. The 2014 lineup at The Ridgefield Playhouse will bring Dave Mason, psychics Sylvia Brown and James Van Praagh, Taylor Dane, Cheap Trick for the Valentine's Day Gala, Pinocchio, Laser Spectacular's Michael Jackson, Jim Belushi and the Chicago Board of Comedy, The Wizard of Oz, Shakespeare, Dvo?ák and Rossini operas Live in HD and so much more -- just the ticket for the most appreciated gifts.
