This past fall, Stamford's Curtain Call, Inc., presented a concert reading of the new romantic musical comedy LOVE, INCORPORATED. On Monday, February 9, the theater will mount the second of this season's concert readings: another new romantic musical comedy LOVE, NY, the winner of this year's American Harmony Prize.

"LOVE, NY was chosen for Curtain Call's February concert reading as the result of winning the award," explains William Squier, coordinator of the American Harmony Prize. "The competition draws submissions for all over the country. So, it's a pure coincidence that we ended up with a second romantic comedy with a very similar title. But, given the current state of affairs in the world, we can use all the love we can get!"

LOVE, NY was written by Robert Rokicki (music & lyrics) and Michael Ruby (book & lyrics). Rokicki also wrote music and lyrics for MARTHA & ME (Internatonal Fringe Festival); THE GREATEST HOLIDAY MUSICAL...EVER! (Don't Tell Mama) and TRESPASSES (University of Michigan). As a performer, he toured in EVITA and was featured in South Pacific at Carnegie Hall. He was a member of the Tony honored BMI musical theatre workshop. Ruby's other musicals and plays include: ETHAN FROME (Adam Gwon, music & lyrics; NAMT 2006 Songwriter's Showcase); SWING FOR VICTORY!; THE GREATEST HOLIDAY MUSICAL...EVER!; DRINKING THE HEMLOCK (Boston University); THE HOUSE OF NAZARETH (AFTER ZURBARAN) (Best Playwright Award, 3rd Annual Chester Horn Short Play Festival). Both authors are members of the Dramatists Guild and Actor's Equity.

LOVE, NY will be presented as a part of Curtain Call's Musical Monday Series of New Musicals in Concert. The event will take place on Monday, February 9, at 7:30 pm in the Kweskin Theater at 1349 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. The hour-long concert reading will be followed by the awarding the American Harmony Prize to Rokicki and Ruby and a champagne reception. All tickets are $15.00.
