It's an Orchestra Party!!! Live@the MAC presents An Early Evening with Mozart and The Laurel Beach Casino Orchestra on Sunday, April 8th at 4 pm. Performed by 18 of the finest professional classical musicians in the region, this concert is sure to blow the roof off.
Christopher Blair, the conductor and "host" of the experience, leads his merry band of 18 virtuosos through three early masterworks. He gives a casual exploration of the music and life of Mozart while answering such burning questions as "What was Mozart's favorite beer?", "Who totally sabotaged his job search?", and "Now, what about Mozart's potty-mouth..."
Blair, whose day job is designing concert halls and opera houses in various parts of the world, is also active as a guest conductor, most recently with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Falcón in Venezuela, where he has been invited to return for two programs in the fall of 2018.
Among the other orchestras he has led in recent years, appearances with the San Diego Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, the Charleston Symphony, the National Symphony of Bolivia, the Porto Alegre Symphony (Brazil) are most fondly remembered.
Blair created the Laurel Beach Casino Orchestra in 2013 to serve his neighborhood with an event that totally stripped the classical concert experience of all its "rules" and returned the music to the social entertainment it was originally intended to be. So successful was that first attempt that the neighborhood has sponsored a yearly orchestra party every year since.
