For those too old for trick-or-treating who are looking for a fun night out, the wild, madcap farce LEND ME A TENOR opens October 31 at Town Players.

Written by Ken Ludwig, LEND ME A TENOR takes place at the Cleveland Grand Opera Company in 1934. Saunders, the general manager, is ready to welcome famous tenor Tito "Il Stupendo" Merelli for a one night only engagement as Otello. Unfortunately, the star arrives late, is given a double dose of tranquilizers, and passes out. Expecting a full house, the show must go on - but Saunders' plans to save the day hit a snag. With two men claiming to be Il Stupendo, women running around in lingerie, and the machinations of a shrewd, opportunistic bellhop, a night at the opera becomes hilariously unforgettable.

Nominated for nine Tony Awards and winner of three, the New York Times called LEND ME A TENOR "one of the two great farces by a living writer."

Directed by Timothy Huebenthal of Southbury, the cast includes the talents of Chris Cooney (Monroe), Brian DeToma (Danbury), Rosemary Howard (Milldale), Laurel Lettieri (Norwalk), Kevon McDonough (Ridgefield), Daniel J. Mulvihill, Jr. (Redding), Elaine Reilly (Southbury) and Amy Strachian (Monroe). The production crew includes Steven Hoose (New Milford) and stage manager Terry Polvay (Sandy Hook).

LEND ME A TENOR runs October 31 - November 22. Curtain times are 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays, with 2 PM matinees on November 9 and 16. Tickets are $20; $15 for matinee performances. Please note that Saturday, November 1 is a sold-out benefit performance.
