Tonight, September 18, TheatreWorks New Milford will debut LEADING LADIES, the hilariously outrageous farce by Ken Ludwig.
From the author of Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo comes this outrageous new comedy. The story focuses on Jack and Leo, two English Shakespearean actors who are so down on their luck they are reduced to performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. But when they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces and, in the tradition of any Ken Ludwig farce, absolute hilarity ensues.
The production features an outstanding cast from all over the tri-state area: Hal Chernoff (Simsbury), Victoria Calamito (Carmel, N.Y.), Daniel Basiletti (Brewster, N.Y.), Rob Pawlikowski (Roxbury), Edwin Acre (Harrington Park, N.J.), and Mary Wilson, Carey Van Hollen, and Ron Dukenski (all Southbury).
