The Hartt School's Music Theatre students present the tale of love and murder, Time After Time, Thursday, March 8, Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, March 11, at 3:00 PM. Time After Time is based on the novel by Karl Alexander and tells the story of H.G. Wells, as he uses a time machine to follow Jack the Ripper into present day New York City. With music by Jeffrey Saver and book and lyrics by Stephen Cole, this show is sure to take the audience on a thrill ride through time.
A well-known and highly regarded keyboardist and conductor on various Broadway shows, Jeffrey Saver has worked on Sunday in the Park With George, Chicago, and the current Sister Act, among others. He taught at Point Park in Pittsburgh, where the show had Time After Time has its beginning.
Stephen Cole is an award winning musical theatre writer whose honors include the prestigious Edward Kleban Award, five Dallas Theatre League Awards, an Outer Critic's Circle nomination for Best Off-Broadway Musical, an Honorable Mention for Best Lyrics from The New York Musical Theatre Festival, and the Gilman-Gonzalez Falla Commendation for his work in Musical Theatre.
Both Cole and Saver will attend rehearsals and work directly with Hartt students as they prepare for the production in the week leading up to opening night.
Director Kevin Gray explains, "Time After Time is an exciting new offering by the writing team of Stephen Cole and Jeffrey Saver, and is the time travel adventure of H.G. Wells, with all the attendant thrills and surprises. It promises to be a very special experience for Hartt Theatre Division artists."
