Playwright Jonathan Tolins, Cirque de Soliel's Marjon Van Grunsven and Cabaret Artist Ira Lee Collins step-up-to-the-mic for this week's (Friday, June 3) State of the ARTS on WPKN. State of the ARTS airs LIVE every Friday from 12noon to 1pm on WPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment program are Richard Pheneger and Peggy Nelson.

Playwright Jonathan Tolins brings his original Off-Broadway comedy, Buyer & Cellar with original star Michael Urie, to the Westport Country Playhouse June 14 through July 3. New York's public television station will tape a performance for a later broadcast on the PBS "Theatre Close-Up" series.

Marjon Van Grunsven is the Artistic Director of Cirque de Soliel's OVO, described as "teeming with colorful life of insects working, playing, fighting and looking for love in a non-stop riot of energy. Fun for the entire family, OVO plays Bridgeport's Webster Bank Arena June 8-12.

Ira Lee Collins continues the celebration of his 80th birthday with his new cabaret show, Simply, Ira Lee (A Gay Geezer's Celebration Through the Looking Glass) at Don't Tell Mama in New York City on Wednesday, June 15 and Monday, June 20...both performances at 7pm.

State of the ARTS, featuring arts and entertainment personalities, airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon-1pm on WPKN-FMlocated at 89.5 and streams worldwide online at wpkn.org
