On Thursday, January 19, 2017, the Amistad Center and Wadsworth Atheneum will participate in The Ghostlight Project. Starting at 4:30 pm, there will be hot chocolate, flashlights and handouts for participants. The program will begin promptly at 5 pm. Performers will include Nazinga's Daughters, CONNetic Dance and Mimi Lines with remarks from Frank Mitchell, Executive Director & Curator of the Amistad Center, along with Tom Loughman, Director & CEO of the Wadsworth Atheneum. At 5:30 pm, participants will turn on their lights, and then march to Sea Improv to join TheaterWorks and Hartford Stage.
"On January 19th, 2017 at 5:30 pm in each time zone across the country we will gather outside of theaters to create a "light" for dark times ahead, and to make, or renew, a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation." ~ The Ghostlight Project Be A Light With Us!
