New Britain's Hole in the Wall Theater announces the first production of their 2016-2017 season- Sylvia by A. R. Gurney, opening on September 16th 2016 and running for four weekends.

Sylvia tells the story of empty nesters Greg and Kate, who just moved into the city from the suburbs. While Kate's career as an inner city educator is on the rise, Greg is losing interest in his job- until a chance encounter with Sylvia, a stray dog he found in the park, gives him a new purpose and outlook on life. Unfortunately, Kate sees Sylvia as the other woman "chewing a hole in their 22 year old marriage". Sylvia can sit, fetch and speak, but will she stay?

Sylvia stars Steven Siemiatkoski (New Britain) as Greg; Jennifer Tellier (New Britain) as Kate; Adam Cormier (Colebrook) as Tom, Phyllis and Leslie; and Jill Luberto (Mansfield) as Sylvia. Sylvia is directed by Jim Ryan (Meriden) and produced by Christina Giannelli (Middletown). Kristen Bennett (Southington) is the stage manager.

Sylvia runs September 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 30th, and October 1st, 7th, and 8th at 8:00 PM and September 25th at 2:00 PM. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Tickets are available from the box office (860-229-3049) or on the Hole in the Wall website (http://www.hitw.org).

In keeping with the Hole in the Wall Theater philosophy of providing theater for everyone, the September 23rd performance will be "Pay-What-You-Can".

As part of this production, the Hole in the Wall Theater is partnering with Big Fluffy Dog Rescue to raise awareness of canine rescue, fostering and adoption. Representatives of Big Fluffy Dog Rescue will be at every performance of Sylvia, displaying photographs of their current rescue dogs and collecting donations of food, toys and bedding for the dogs.

About Hole in the Wall Theater

Hole in the Wall Theater has been providing quality entertainment to the community since 1972. This non-profit, volunteer run organization offers six shows per season as well as many other varied events throughout the year. Located at 116 Main St in New Britain, their location has changed through the years but their philosophy always remains the same.... "Theater should be available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay." This mission is what has kept their tradition of offering a "Pay What You Can" performance of every show alive, allowing everyone who wishes to enjoy theater the ability to do so no matter what their budget may be.

About Big Fluffy Dog Rescue

Established in 2005, Big Fluffy Dog Rescue is a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit Organization dedicated to saving large breed dogs in need. Over the years our mission has expanded, to include all types of dogs, with a mantra of "No Dog Left Behind".

Our dogs come into rescue for many different reasons. Many were abandoned at high kill shelters in the South. Some were turned in by owners who could not properly care for them and still others are failed livestock guardian dogs. Regardless of their origins, our goal for every dog is the same: a safe, happy home where the dog is a well-loved member of the family. Big Fluffy Dog Rescue has its headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, with an active second headquarters in Windsor, Connecticut. We currently have over 800 active volunteers, spread across 31 states. In addition, at our Nashville HQ we also operate a 6000 sq. ft. kennel that is a way station for incoming dogs while they receive any needed medical care and rehabilitation before they move to a foster home or a forever home.

Please join us in experiencing the fun and fulfillment that come from helping one of our special dogs. Regardless of how you choose to help, foster a dog, help transport, volunteer with a special skill that you have or contribute with a donation, you can help us help dogs in need. Thanks to our individual supporters and sponsoring businesses, we were able to place over 2200 dogs in their forever homes in 2015.
