Under the direction of Glen Adsit, a highlight of this concert is Michael Colgrass’s Urban Requiem, featuring a saxophone quartet and wind ensemble that explores sound elements of urban life.

Adsit says of Urban Requiem, “This piece features four of the finest collegiate saxophones that represent different aspects of urban life in the composition. As the work unfolds, the listener is drawn into the sound world of Urban Life. The piece is a reminder of the diversity of the urban life but also serves as a reminder of the loss of some aspects of our cities.”

In addition, the program includes Michael Daugherty's Desi, which was written in 1991 as a tribute to Desi Arnaz, who played Ricky Ricardo in “I Love Lucy,” and Holst’s Second Suite in F and Hammersmith.
