Hartt School Dance Division Presents FRICTION, 3/9 & 10

The Hartt School Dance Division presents Friction, a Senior Dance Production, in collaboration with Hartt Music Composition Majors and featuring live music performed by Foot in the Door, Hartt's contemporary music ensemble. Performances are Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10, at 7:30 PM, and Saturday March 10, at 2:00 PM, in the Edward C. and Ann T. Roberts Black Box Theater located in the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford, CT. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, with discounts for senior citizens, students, alumni, educators, and groups of 10 or more. University of Hartford students, faculty, and staff are eligible to receive one free ticket with current University ID. Friction features the talents of Hartt Senior Dance Choreographers partnered with Hartt Composition Majors to create daring and original new works. Inspirations for the collaborations range from the concepts of social mechanization, the human experience, investigation of ripple effects, dystopian societies, and more! Six of the evening's works will be accompanied by live music performed by the Hartt School's own Foot in the Door Ensemble, directed by Professor Glen Adsit. Also featured will be solo works commissioned from professional choreographers Sidra Bell, Aaron Selissen, Adam Hundt, Shannon Gillen, Troy Powel, and Manuel Vignoulle.

Spring 2012 Senior Dance Choreographers include Erin Dillon, Tehran Dixon, Sean Hatch, Britni Lariviere, Amy Motson, and Shirah Perry, directed by Professor Katie Stevinson-Nollet. Hartt Composition Majors providing original music for this concert are Evan Cogswell, Aaoron Krerowicz, Shuying Li, George Luther, Steven Serpa and Brian Simalchik, directed by Professor Robert Carl.
