The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) is pleased to announce A Benefit for the Fund for Access, a recital featuring noted violinist Sirena Huang, joined by the Opus 89 Youth Orchestra, on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 7:30 PM in Millard Auditorium, University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT.

The performance will include works by Brahms, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, and Vivaldi. Tickets to this special performance are $35.00 general admission. A limited number of premium seats, which include an exclusive pre-concert reception, are available for $75. All proceeds benefit the Fund for Access, The Hartt School Community Division’s financial aid program. For tickets, contact the University Box Office at 860.768.4228 or 800.274.8587. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased anytime at www.hartford.edu/hartt.

A native of West Hartford, Miss Huang began her violin studies at The Hartt School Community Division when she was four years old. Now an award-winning and internationally-acclaimed artist, she is about to embark on her college studies and gives this recital as a gift to our community. The recital will include solo works on the first half of the program. The second half of the program will include a performance of “Summer” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as well as his Concerto for Four Violins in B minor. For these works, Miss Huang will be joined by violin soloists from the Hartt Community Division and the Opus 89 Youth Orchestra, led by Emmett Drake.

The Fund for Access was established in the mid 1990’s as a means to provide high caliber performing arts instruction to Hartford area students who might otherwise not be able to afford it. The Fund has been supported generously by private individuals, foundations, and corporations over the years, but requires annual donations and gifts from the community in order to meet the ongoing need of qualified students. In 2011-2012, the Fund for Access awarded more than $100,000 in critical financial aid to more than 150 Community Division music and dance students from 26 towns in the region. Donations to the Fund for Access are tax-deductible.
