Hartt Presents A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

Hartt's newest Theatre Division faculty member and Broadway luminary Kevin Gray directs Arthur Miller's A View From The Bridge, the first play of the 2011-2012 Theatre season. The show runs tonight, October 7, and Saturday, October 8, at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, October 9, at 3:00 PM. Performances are in the Kent McCray Theater at the Mort and Irma Handel Performing Arts Center, 35 Westbourne Parkway, Hartford. Admission is $20 with discounts for seniors, students, and groups. Arthur Miller's timeless play A View From The Bridge is set in a 1950s Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge. The play follows the life and downfall of longshoreman Eddie Carbone, whose obsession with his niece Catherine drives him to his own destruction.

"I am very excited to be directing the first production of what promises to be an extremely diverse and elegant season at The Hartt Theatre Division," said Gray. "Arthur Miller's A View From The Bridge is one of the finest and most compelling plays of the American cannon. It will be a challenge and a privilege for our students to inhabit this dramatic piece, and the level of technical and emotional development required to bring the play to authentic life will be precisely the kind of process for which we feel our young actors train," he continued.

Actor Training majors performing in A View From The Bridge include Matt Reddick of Gansevoort, NY, as Eddie; Tara Reuter of Fairfield CT, as Catherine; Caitlin Blauvelt of Hillsborough, NJ, as Beatrice; Josh Boscarino of Ellington, CT, as Alfieri; and Seth Peterson of South Bristol, ME, as Rodolpho. Music Theatre majors performing include Zach Bencal of Londonderry, NH, as Marco; Andrew McMath of Simsbury, CT, as Tony; Joel Dommel of Allentown, PA, as Louis/ First Immigration Office; and John Olsen of Las Vegas, NV, as Mike/Second Immigration Officer.
