The Hartt School faculty and students of its Community Division will participate in the 14th Annual Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference, which will be held May 28-31, 2010, in Minneapolis, MN. For more information on The Hartt School Community Division, visit http://www.hcd.hartford.edu/
Faculty presenting at the conference include:
· Teri Einfeldt, Hartt Suzuki Violin Faculty, HCD Suzuki Department Chair, Chair of the Suzuki Association of the America, and Chair of the SAA Teacher Development Committee, presents "So Much More! Balancing the Knowledge of the Advancing Student to Include the Practical Tools Needed to Become a Musician;"
· Diane Slone, HCD String Department Chair, will present "New, New-to-Us, and Well-Loved: Ongoing Parent Education in the Facebook Age;"
· David Madsen, HCD Guitar and Harp Department Chair and Suzuki Guitar Coordinator, will present "Developing the Young Suzuki Student's Reading Skills;"
· Melinda Daetsch, Suzuki Viola and Violin faculty member, is the Co-Coordinator for Chamber Music at the 14th Annual Conference;
· Malgosia Lis, Suzuki Piano faculty member, Assistant Coordinator for Pianos at the 14th Annual Conference, and will be the Coordinator for Pianos in 2012.
The conference offers extraordinary opportunities for selected students. Students may be selected to participate in the Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas, master classes, and chamber music coachings and concerts. The Hartt Community Division will be well represented this year by the following students:
·Two piano students of Malgosia Lis, Giulia Bambara (Willington, CT) and Vy Dang (West Hartford, CT), were selected to participate in piano master classes and chamber music coachings;
· The Bohemian String Quartet, plus guest artist Chas Pfeifer (North Granby, CT), guitar student of Jim Rickivicius, will play the Boccherini Guitar Quintet at the pre-concert for the Minnesota Orchestra as well as the Chamber Music Master Class. The Bohemian String Quartet is coached by Teri Einfeldt and is comprised of Matthew McDonald (Southbury, CT), violin student of Teri Einfeldt, Matthew Hannau (Simsbury, CT), violin student of Teri Einfeldt and Anton Miller, Luke Piscitelli (West Hartford, CT), viola student of Teri Einfledt, and Jiayang Guo (Unionville, CT), cello student of Carlynn Savot;
· Two HCD Students have been chosen to participate in the Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas, originally started by David Einfeldt: Maya Irizarry Lambright (West Hartford, CT), violin student of Teri Einfeldt, and Sofia Gilchenok (Columbia, CT), viola student of Melinda Daetsch.
Many of HCD's Suzuki String, Guitar and Piano faculty also will attend this year's conference: Ruth Bergman (violin), Susan Cheng (piano), Melinda Daetsch (Suzuki viola and violin), Emmett Drake (Suzuki Orchestra Director), Teri Einfeldt (Chair of the SAA), Lee Hadden (Suzuki viola and violin) Carmen Irons (Suzuki cello), Malgosia Lis (Suzuki piano), Jaroslaw Lis (violin), David Madsen (Suzuki guitar), Jessica Meyer (Suzuki violin), Carlynn Savot (Suzuki cello), Diane Slone (Suzuki violin), and Harmon Steiner (Suzuki cello).
