What: Hartford Stage Young Company, in conjunction with the Greater Hartford Arts Council's Neighborhood Studios, will present Breakdancing Shakespeare: The Tempest, a special youth theatre performance on Monday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at Hartford Stage. Breakdancing Shakespeare: The Tempest is a modern take on Shakespeare's classic comedy exploring love and forgiveness. Students use breakdancing, hip hop, circus and magic tricks, and stage combat to make Shakespeare's language accessible to audiences of all ages. The performance is the culmination of a six-week rehearsal process involving 16 Greater Hartford area students. Over the course of the summer, the students learned techniques of breakdancing, physical/vocal characterization, and interpretation of classical text, as well as taking master classes in circus stunts, stage magic, music and fight choreography, that enabled them to create this modern adaptation of The Tempest.

When: Monday, August 8 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Where: Hartford Stage, 50 Church Street, Hartford, CT

How: All tickets are $5.00 each. Purchase online at www.hartfordstage.org or call the box office at 860-527-5151
