HARTFORD CHILDREN'S THEATRE (360 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, CT) is holding auditions for Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, the first production of the 2009-2010 20th Anniversary Main Stage Season, "20 Years of Enchantment." Performances of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will take place at Hoffman Auditorium on the campus of Saint Joseph College in West Hartford October 30 through November 7, 2009.
Auditions for BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will take place, by appointment only, Thursday, August 27 and Saturday, August 29 with callbacks on Sunday, August 30 at HCT's Carriage House Theatre. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the classic love story of Belle, a young woman in a "small, provincial town," and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped in a spell. If the Beast can learn to love and to be loved, the spell will be broken and he will be transformed back to his former self. However, time is running out, and if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he will be doomed for all eternity. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated picture, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST features a book by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King) with music by Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors) and lyrics by Howard Ashman (The Little Mermaid) and Tim Rice (Evita).
Roles are available for Adults and Teenagers age 17 and over and Children 7 and older. Audition sides will be available at HCT during the auditions or in HCT's main office beginning Monday, August 24.
Performers should come prepared to sing 16 measures of an appropriate song of their choosing. Audition times are as follows: Thursday, August 276 - 9:00 p.m.Adults and Teenagers Age 17 and older / All Roles Saturday, August 2910 - 11:00 a.m.
