Playhouse on Park, Hartford county's most affordable and intimate professional theatre, is ready to announce its 5th Anniversary Season. In 2013-2014 The Playhouse will feature 6 productions that will entertain, challenge, and engage audiences.

Othello by William Shakespeare: October 2nd-22nd, Directed by Sasha Bratt.
An accessible, fast-moving, sensual and dangerous production of the brutal and beautiful Shakespearean tragedy, considered by many to be his greatest work.

The Hound of Baskervilles adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, based on the stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, December 5th-22nd, Directed by Tom Ridgely.
The classic Sherlock Holmes mystery comes to life as a three - man farce that will leave audiences "howling"

Lend me a Tenor by Ken Ludwig, January 22nd-February 9th Directed by Jerry Winters
The modern classic involving mistaken identities, slamming doors and outright hilarity set at the Cleveland Grand Opera in 1934.

Higgins in Harlem (World Premiere) by Connecticut Playwright, Lawrence Thelen, March 5th-23rd Directed by Lawrence Thelen

This original adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play on social commentary Pygmalion, which inspired the musical, My Fair Lady, is here reset in America during the Harlem Renaissance.

I'd Rather Be Dancing conceived, directed, and choreographed by Darlene Zoller, April 2nd-13th

stop/time dance theater's annual extravaganza is filled with dancing, singing and live music!

The 25th Annual Putman County Spelling Bee with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman, with additional material by Jay Reiss, June 11th-21st Directed by Susan Haefner.

This Tony-Award winning, highly entertaining musical follows eager adolescents on the road to the "spelling bee of a lifetime."

In addition this year Playhouse on Park is launching their Playhouse on The Edge series which includes Adam Rapp's Pulitzer - Prize nominated play, Red Light Winter (September) Naomi Wallace coming of age poetic drama The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek (May) and world premieres of international one-act plays, Theatre Uncut (November). These productions are bold, provocative new works for adults.

For Families, Playhouse on Park offers their Theatre For Young Audience Series, which this year includes two musicals The Main Street Kids' Club: A Mathstart Musical (November) by Scott Ferguson and Michael Mahler based on the Mathstart books by Stuart J. Murphy and A Year with Frog and Toad (April) by Willie Reale and Robert Reale, based on the books by Arnold Lobel.

Comedy, Improv, Music and Special Event dates will be available soon.
