Artist Rick Shaefer, Connecticut Repertory Theatre's Matt Puglise and Bandaloop DancerTour Director Roel Seeber are on tap for this week's (Friday, September 2) State of the ARTS which airs LIVE every Friday from 12noon to 1pm on WPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment program areRichard Pheneger and Peggy Nelson.

Rick Shaefer presents the inaugural exhibition of his monumental new series "The Refugee Trilogy," (inset) created in response to the ongoing global refugee crisis. The trilogy employs artistic lexicon of the Baroque and of Romanticism to explore this contemporary crisis in a language both familiar and iconic. In addition to the three triptychs, each executed in charcoal on vellum, the exhibition will include a number of Shaefer's preparatory drawings for the series."The Refugee Trilogy" will be on exhibit in the Walsh Gallery in the Quick Center on the campus of Fairfield University from September 8 - October 22, 2016.

Matt Puglise, Managing Director of Connecticut Repertory Theatre, has been the key figure in securing the exhibit of the recently discovered Shakespeare First Folio at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. Puglise wrote the proposal and is managing all the details for the month-long exhibit on campus. He'll discuss all the related First Folioevents, including Connecticut Repertory Theatre's production of King Lear, as well as a film festival.

Roel Seeber is a dancer and tour director of Bandaloop, a pioneer in vertical dance performance that seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and the art of climbing to turn the dance floor on its side.Bandaloop's indoor/outdoor work has been presented in theaters, museums and literally on skyscrapers, bridges, billboards and historical sites, in atriums and convention halls honoring nature, community and the human spirit by bringing dance to new audiences and re-imagining what dance can be. The site-specific Fairfield University location for the FREE performances of Bandaloop will be the Barone Campus Center on Friday, September 9, 2016 at both 5:30 and 6:30pm.
