To prepare for their roles in Goodspeed Musicals’ current production, Big River, adapted from the Mark Twain classic “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” the cast recently went on a tour of The Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, Conn. The company was so impressed by the experience they decided to take up a collection to help support this Connecticut landmark. “It is our custom to exchange gifts on our opening night, but we were so moved during our recent visit to The Mark Twain House and Museum that we decided as a company to forgo that tradition and honor the legacy of Mr. Twain, which you so beautifully preserve,” explained cast member Mary Jo McConnell as she presented the check for $1135. The gift giving exceeded all expectations and proved a most joyous surprise for Education Director Craig Hotchkiss who was presented the check by company members following a recent post show talkback. Big River will run through November 30, 2008 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut.
