According to a report in Variety, Goodspeed Musicals will present three classics next year, two of which the theater company will be staging for the first time. They include Irving Berlin's "Annie Get Your Gun," Bob Merrill's "Carnival" and Frank Loesser's Pulitzer Prize-winning "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
Announcements regarding directors, casting and dates are forthcoming, although it is expected that that Annie Get Your Gun will get a spring run, Carnival a summer showing, and Loesser's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying a fall presentation.
The theater presented "Carnival" in 1986. The 1961 show has never received a Broadway revival. Annie Get Your Gun was last presented on Broadway in 1999 with Bernadette Peters. How to Succeed in Business was revived in 1995 with Matthew Broderick. A reading of How to Succeed will be held in New York in December with Daniel Radcliffe, as previously reported. That production will be directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford and is anticipated to be making a potential Broadway run.
