Goodspeed kicks off its much anticipated three day festival of brand new works on Friday, January 15, at the Goodspeed Opera House with a staged reading of the funny, topical, geek-rock joyride Hello Out There. On Saturday, January 16, check out the wacky, hip, trio of intertwined musicals ReWrite,. On the final day of the festival the sophisticated and lush musical Lincoln In Love will debut. Several special events will round out this exciting weekend.
This year Goodspeed has expanded the Festival offerings to create a new Weekend Program. The $75 package includes admission to all 3 staged readings; the Symposium: Creating Next To Normal with Tony Award winner Tom Kitt, Broadway Producer David Stone, Director Michael Greif (Rent, Grey Gardens, and Next To Normal) and others; Seminar Series hosted by Broadway luminaries; a Saturday evening pre-show dinner at the Gelston House and a Meet the Writers Reception which will complete the weekend's festivities. Also included in the special weekend program is admittance to the Friday Night and Saturday Night Festival Cabarets showcasing new songs by new and established artists.
In addition to the Symposium at 4 p.m. on Saturday, other free events include, Opera House tours, Highlights of the Goodspeed Collection exhibit at our library of Musical Theatre, and a movie series.
The Festival will showcase staged readings of three new musicals and is open to the general public. Tickets are $15 each for one show, $10 each for students.
