Every time James Van Praagh, the original Ghost Whisperer, comes to The Ridgefield Playhouse, it's a sold-out event. Once again on Wednesday, April 9, at 8 p.m., he will communicate messages from the grave and bridge the gap between two planes of existence, that of the living and the dead, by providing evidential proof of life after death via detailed messages. The awe-inspiring James Van Praagh 's very natural easy-going style would lead one to believe that he is chatting with a friend on the telephone, not communicating messages from the grave. At his Playhouse show, James will select people from the audience to participate in the calling of spirits. His popularity began in the early '90s, on the NBC morning talk show The Other Side. He went on to author best-selling books such as Ghosts Among Us, Talking to Heaven, Reaching to Heaven and Healing Grief. After the event, Mr. Van Praagh will do a book signing in the lobby, where copies of some of his books will be available for purchase, or at Books on the Common (404 Main Street, Ridgefield). Bernard's (20 West Lane, Ridgefield) will serve a special $45 prix-fixe menu, or a free glass of wine with dinner, the night of this event; reservations suggested. This event is partially underwritten by Green Rocks Inn (415 Danbury Rd., Ridgefield) and is part of HamletHub's "A Whole New You" and Moffly Media Entertaining Conversations Series with media sponsor i95fm The Home of Rock 'n' Roll.

For five seasons, Van Praagh was the co-executive producer of CBS's #1 drama Ghost Whisperer starring Jennifer Love Hewitt. He has also contributed to Entertainment Magazine's "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider". Van Praagh's message of hope has touched many people due to his television appearances on such shows as Oprah, Larry King Live, 20/20, 48 Hours and Biography.

"I'm clairsentient, which simply means clear feeling. I feel the emotions and personalities of the deceased. I am also clairvoyant", explains Van Praagh, who is an expert on the subject of life after death. The Los Angeles Times television critic Howard Rosenberg dubbed Van Praagh "spectacular".

James Van Praagh's unique paranormal experiences during the past twenty-five years have been recorded in his best-selling books Talking To Heaven, Reaching To Heaven, and Healing Grief. His fourth book is the proclaimed Heaven and Earth - Making the Psychic Connection. In September 2003, teens were introduced to Looking Beyond: A Teen's Guide to the Spiritual World. In November of that same year, his Meditations with James Van Praagh brought a new awareness to the meditation experience. His newest publication, Ghosts Among Us, was released to critical acclaim in May 2008 and quickly landed on the New York Times Bestseller List and was No. 1 on Amazon.com Bestseller list.

For tickets ($75; $90 Gold Circle Meet & Greet available by calling the box office at (203) 438-5795), or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
