PIPPIN, by Roger O. Hirson is the story of Charlemagne's oldest son. With Bob Fosse choreography & an unforgettable score from musical theatre giant, Stephen Schwartz, Pippin is the story of one young man's journey to be extraordinary. Heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin is in search of the secret to true happiness & fulfillment. He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh & the intrigues of political power. In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the unextraordinary moments that happen every day.
The audience follows Pippin, played by Blaise Carter, through the play as he searches for "complete fulfillment". He is guided by the Leading Player, Nicole Varvaras, as Pippin is presented with diverse alternatives by members of his family: his father, King Charlemagne (Jackson Shostak), his stepmother Fastrada (Julia Vitale), his stepbrother Lewis (Jesse Lanham), & his grandmother, Berthe (Maddie McDermott). Among the many people/Troupe of Players he meets along the way are a wealthy widow, Catherine (Kieran Brown) and her son Theo (Vincent Ohe).
