Elm Shakespeare Company brings magic to Edgerton Park for it's 21st summer season
with Shakespeare's most beloved comedy, presenting 16 free outdoor performances of A Midsummer Nights Dream directed by Tina Packer of Shakespeare & Company, Lennox, MA.

Performances begin Thursday, August 18th and run through Sunday, September 4th. Tuesday-Sunday at 8:00pm in Edgerton Park, New Haven.

As the first production under Elm Shakespeare's new Producing Director, Rebecca Goodheart, A Midsummer Night's Dream is the ideal choice for Edgerton Park's romantically lush backdrop. Brimming with playful mischief, feuding lovers, and the most uproarious band of awkward would-be performers ever to grace the stage, hilarity ensues while enchantment and wonder delight the senses as only it can on a midsummer's eve. Goodheart has assembled a team from throughout the eastern seaboard and abroad to bring the play to life, including celebrated director, Tina Packer.

Drawing upon the history of the park, Packer's vision uses the park itself and its rich history as inspiration. Over a hundred years ago, Frederick Brewster built a grand guilded-age mansion for his bride Margaret, tearing it down again upon her death. Packer and the company create a true dreamscape, melding the park's architecture and romantic Victorian history with the strident classical mythology that opens the play, the celtic folklore of Shakespeare's Fairyland and the modern working people of New Haven to tell a story of young love, transformation and the journey from discord to harmony.

This world is created by a team of talented artists. Set design by Elizabeth Bolster, Costume design by Tyler Kinney, Lighting Design by Jamie Burnett, Choreography by Kaia Monroe Rarick, Fights by Michael F. Toomey, and Sound Design and Original Music by Micheael V. Skinner. Stage and technical infrastructure provided by Luminous Designs and Horizon Sound.

The regional and international cast includes (in alphabetical order) Elisa Albert, Brianna Bauch, Gracy Brown*, Dave Demke*, Jeremy Funke*, Evan Gambardella, Steven Godoy, Stephanie Jean Lane, Raphael Massie*, Caley Milliken*, Anna Paratore, Anthony Peeples*, Frederick Secrease*, Jordan Simpson, Nathan Tracy, Tai Verley*, Kristin Wold*. * denotes a member of Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers.

Outdoor performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream begin at 8pm in Edgerton Park, 75 Cliff Street, New Haven CT
