Executive Producer Hugh Hallinan and Artistic Director Bert Bernardi have announced the Downtown Cabaret Theatre Children's Company 2009-10 season. This marks the twenty-eighth season for the award-winning resident musical theatre company located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The season features five musicals for young audiences and their families.
People's Bank and R. D. Scinto are season sponsors.

In October, the new season will open with Halloween High School 2, a sequel to last year's sold out production. The further adventures of Maryellen Strangeblood and a school full of groovy ghoulies will feature original songs by Mr. Bernardi and Scott Simonelli. It plays October 10 - November 1 and is sponsored by General Electric.

A second new musical by Bernardi and Simonelli debuts for the holiday season. The Knight Before Christmas is an original story about a mythical kingdom under an evil spell which may only be broken by a brave Knight. Sponsored by the law firm of Stratton Faxon, it plays November 14 - December 30th.

The Children's Company will start the new year with a reprise production of Hansel and Gretel, an off-beat rock musical spoof of the Grimms Brothers classic. Sponsored by
Unilever, the laugh-a-minute musical plays January 16 - February 21.

A third brand new musical, Little Red Running Shoes, makes its debut on the Cabaret stage March 6 - April 11. Bernardi and Simonelli promise a light pop/rock revision of Little Red Riding Hood's journey to Grandmother's house and is also sponsored by Stratton Faxon.

The grand finale to the season will be one of the Children's Company's most popular offerings, Cinderella. This all-Italian version is set in Venice and recounts the story of Cinderella as told by Salvatore, a gondolier. General Electric will sponsor this reprise production which plays April 17 - May 23.

The Downtown Cabaret Theatre Children's Company offers young audiences a unique theatre experience, seated cabaret-style at tables and chairs. Audiences of all ages are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch and snacks to enjoy during the performance. The venue also makes for a perfect setting for birthday celebrations and school field trips.
Subscriptions to the season are on sale now. Single tickets may be purchased beginning in September. More information about the Downtown Cabaret Theatre Children's Company and its new season are available by visiting www.downtowncabaret.org
