DrumLine LIVE, the spectacular show based on the precision marching team in 20th Century Fox's hit movie, Drumline, brings the rhythm and the beat to UConn's Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28 at 8 pm in the popular Cabaret setting. The production brings show-style marching performers from America's top, Historically Black Colleges and Universities to the theatrical stage for the very first time!

Created by the musical team behind the movie, this bold mix of high energy and precision is like a lit firecracker exploding on stage. The showdown of rhythm and speed between the "lines" will amaze you with its precision, strength and pulsing force. Featuring the music of Earth, Wind and Fire and Tower of Power as well as the hottest contemporary hip-hop and R&B, this show-stopping performance has a dynamite choreography that will bring you to your feet! The dancers and "steppers" are sexy, flashy, and thrilling with their incredible feats of athleticism. The trumpeters are pitch-perfect and soul-stirring. But it is the percussionists of the "drumline," with their pounding rhythms, who are the beating heart of this show.

DrumLine LIVE gives the audience a glimpse into an American tradition, alive with creative intensity, that began at colleges and universities after the Civil War to serve the African American population. The performance, with its characteristic high stepping, high energy, exciting musical repertoire, moved from halftime entertainment to band competitions in the Big Southern Classic and the Bayou Classic, drawing thousands of fans.

Enjoy DrumLine LIVE in Jorgensen's Cabaret setting (sandwiches, hearty soup and salad $3 to $10; cash bar). To set the mood, several local marching bands will strut their stuff starting at 7:15 pm before each show. Doors open at 7 pm. Tickets are $34, $38 and $45. For tickets and information, call the Box Office, Monday through Friday, 11 am to 5 pm, at 860.486.4226 or order online at jorgensen.uconn.edu.
