Downtown Cabaret Theatre Announced Today That it Has Received a $15,000 Grant for Operations From the Fairfield County Community Foundation. "At a time in recent history when giving has dried up, it is very exciting to unexpectedly receive this generous grant from the FCCF," said the Executive Director of the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, Hugh Hallinan.
Downtown Cabaret Theatre received a $15,000 competitive grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation in support of its grant writing and research consultancy. For 30 years the DCT has been unable to identify funds to underwrite grant writing and board development. This grant will do just that. Each season, the Children's Company produces five musical productions based on popular fairytales and original works that attract over 40,000 children and their families. More than 50 schools from around the state also attend special weekday matinee performances. Many of these are only made possible by sponsorship and grants that allow the Cabaret to offer free or reduced admission to economically disadvantaged schools. For this and many other reasons, the Children's Company is one of the Bridgeport area's most valuable arts and cultural resources."Today more than ever it is easy to take the cultural benefits of performing arts for granted until they suddenly disappear due to lack of funding. FCCF understands the extreme challenges non profits endure, and serve a vital role in their existence," Hallinan remarked.Videos
