In 1946, the movie "It's A Wonderful Life" was released and became an instant holiday classic rebroadcast annual on cable channels all across the US. In 1997, Joe Landry created a live radio staged adaptation of the movie, which has become a classic in its own right being performed all over the country every year!
This year, the Castle Craig Players of Meriden, CT will recreate a live broadcast, complete with period costumes and live sound effects in a late 1940's style radio studio. All familiar characters, from little Zuzu to Mr. Potter and George Bailey, will be played by a versatile, multi-voiced ensemble of 10 actors, with all key sound effects being created live-on-stage with a foley artist.
The cast features Mark Kosnoff, Rachael Sondak, Kristina Kosnoff, Deane Poirier, Stacey Finch, Timothy Rowe, Robert Rochette, Stuart Wolther, John Fabiani, William "Pat" Petipas and Wesley Tack - with Jim Ryan on Sound Effects! The production is directed by Mark Laucella.
"It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" will run November 28-December 7 (Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30pm/Sundays at 2pm) at the Almira F. Stephan Memorial Playhouse, 59 West Main Street, Meriden.
