The Hartt School presents a variety of music, dance, and theatre performances this December, and all are open to the public.

Saturday, December 7
Hartt Percussion Ensemble, with guest artist John Amira
The Hartt Percussion Ensemble, led by guest artist John
Amira, performs folkloric music from Cuba and Haiti. Based
in New York, Mr. Amira is a nationally recognized performer
and researcher of Cuban and Haitian drumming, and the author
of The Music of Santeria: Traditional Rhythms of the Bata
Drums. Mr. Amira has served on the Hartt faculty as a guest
teacher since January, 2013, making this concert the
culmination of two semesters of work with Hartt's

Annual Sing-for-the-City Concert
Ring in the holidays with The Hartt School choruses at St.
Patrick-St. Anthony Church and help raise funds for St.
Patrick-St. Anthony's Adventure Saturday Mentors, a program
that aims to nurturing Greater Hartford young people's
curiosity and gifts through exciting learning opportunities.
Holiday favorites and excerpts from Handel's Messiah will
put you in the holiday and giving mood!

Saturday, December 14
Hartt Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band
The Wind Ensemble continues its theme of celebrating
composers by featuring the works of a successful alumnus of
the Hartt School Composition program. Jess Turner is
emerging as one of the most important and successful young
compositional voices, and The Hartt Wind Ensemble will play
a number of his works on this concert. A highlight of the
concert is the premiere of Turner's Tuba Concerto,
performed by Hartt's extraordinary tuba faculty member,
Scott Mendoker. Hartt is thrilled to welcome Jess back
"home" for this fantastic concert.
