Connecticut audiences know that the fine work on the state's stages stacks up against New York offerings in terms of quality and diversity.  BroadwayWorld.com invites its readers to pick the best of the best for this past year's Nutmeg State theatre productions.  Musicals and straight plays that graced the stages of both professional and community theatres are eligible in a number of categories.  Productions that opened in September 2010 through October 2011 can be nominated in the following categories, regardless of their professional or non-Equity status:

Best Play
Best Musical
Best Touring Production
Best New Work
Best Connecticut Playwright
Best Director of a Play, Best Director of a Musical
Best Actor in a Play, Best Actor in a Musical
Best Actress in a Play, Best Actress in a Musical
Best Featured Actress in a Play, Best Featured Actress in a Musical
Best Featured Actor in a Play, Best Featured Actress in a Musical
Best Younger Actor (25 and under) and Best Younger Actress (25 and under)
Best Ensemble in a Play, Best Ensemble in a Musical
Best Design in Costume, Set, Lighting and Sound
Best Choreography

In addition, voters can select their favorite Professional Theatre Company and Community Theatre Company, as well as Best Connecticut Playwright, a category routinely ignored by most theatre awards (silly considering that you cannot do a play without a playwright!).  To make your nominations, click here:

Nominations will close on October 31, 2011 when online voting will begin.  Help honor your favorites by filling out your nomination form today!
