Broadway Guest Artists Announced For Musical Theatre Preparatory Program At Playhouse On Park! ImageLearn from Broadway stars this summer at Playhouse on Park! Broadway actors and teaching artists Eric Robertson and Michelle Pruiett visit the Playhouse as guest teaching artists for the Musical Theatre Preparatory Program. Friends of the theater may remember both Robertson and Pruiett as the two lead actors in the Playhouse's production of A Chorus Line in 2016!

Running from July 16-July 27, this two week full-day intensive musical theatre program prepares young actors (3rd-8th grade) for future training and/or performance in music, dance and theater.

Eric Robertson the artist is the sum of very diverse parts. As a performer he's acted in film and TV, theatre, and musical theatre, on Broadway, all over the US and his native Canada. He's directed many productions around NYC, including the off-Broadway show "Gym Shorts: The Show," which he also wrote. He trained at the Barrow Group in NYC, where he was first introduced to the art of clowning. It was this course, and this philosophy, that transformed his acting more than anything else, and he is very excited to be able to share what he learned.

While Touring the country and when in NYC, Michelle Pruiett has taught master classes with Broadway Classroom, Broadway Connection as well as many performing arts schools and programs throughout the country. Credits include: Broadway: Ariel u/s THE LITTLE MERMAID. Tours: JERSEY BOYS, SWEET CHARITY, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, NY Theater: York Theater: Lady Thelma Furness ONLY A KINGDOM. Regional: Florida Studio Theater: Wanda BEEHIVE, Dyanne MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, Playhouse on Park: Cassie A CHORUS LINE, Tuacahn CPA: Ariel (US Premiere) THE LITTLE MERMAID, Alabama Shakespeare Festival: Ariel THE LITTLE MERMAID, Sugar Loaf PAC: Day by Day GODSPELL, Sacramento Music Theater: Rumpleteazer CATS, and many others.

Faculty for the Musical Theatre Preparatory Program includes Playhouse on Park Director of Education Elizabeth Simmons, Rosie Karabetsos, and Abigail Winkler. Broadway guest artists Eric Robertson and Michelle Pruiett will lead a two hour master class during the program. The students will participate in a question and answer session at the end of each master class. Students will also have the opportunity to meet and work with the cast members of In The Heights.

There's still time to sign up for the Musical Theater Preparatory Program at the Playhouse. Guest artists will also be brought in to teach students master classes in special topics. There will be opportunities for instruction both in small groups and as an entire ensemble. The emphasis of the program is on developing strong performance skills.

As part of that goal, each student will be featured in a final performance as a singer, actor, and dancer. Students will also have opportunities to develop their own pieces during daily supervised rehearsals and will have a chance to perform their own "creative projects" for the rest of the students in the program each Friday. Each day begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:30pm. Students can be dropped off as early as 8:30am and pick up as late as 4pm. The cost is $725.
