Milford Arts Council is proud to announce a unique double art exhibit of John Paul O'Grodnick and friends. A reception for the solo work of JPOArt will be held on March 15th from 5:00-8:00pm at Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Avenue, Milford, CT. A follow-up "John & Friends" exhibit reception will be held on April 5th in the same location. The full exhibit will be on display through April 19th, and will feature the contemporary art of John Paul O'Grodnick, adding the art of John's street artist friends after three weeks. The full timeline for the exhibition is March 15-April 19.

John is a native of Bridgeport, based out of New York City and known for his vibrant and elusive painting style. He has a passion for what he calls "beautiful dirty industrial street art." He translates raw emotions and life experience into colorful, powerful and expressive works of art while visually connecting concepts of human perception. John's work has been shown in galleries across the country and his murals are painted on famous walls across New York City. John is looking forward to sharing his art in his home town of Connecticut. He states, "It feels great to be showing my work in the area I grew up. It will be awesome to have family and friends who can't make it to NYC finally able to see my work."

JPO has collaborated with such brands as: GAP, MTV, The NBA, The Grammys, Saks 5th Avenue, and Hollenberg Bros. His painting of Drake for MTV was commissioned to announce the Music Video of the Year nominees at First Street Green Park. He landed a deal to create limited edition jeans for GAP, using clothing as canvas and creating one-of-a-kind items for shoppers at Gap's concept store on 5th Avenue. For the NBA, John has a line of licensed rain boots featured with NBALAB.

John has been busier than ever this year, completing iconic boomboxes for a Grammy party hosted by Universal Music Group, a wall mural for Cachet Boutique hotel in Chelsea, and a new Saks 5th Avenue window display in just this past month. John's pieces are mixed-medium, and are layered with brilliant splashes of paint and marker. "I'm inspired by everything I see, everything I do, everything I hear. I like to mix a lot of styles and vibes, and a lot of different colors," he explains.

JPO's passion for the arts emerged at a young age, for he was inspired by the eclectic tastes of his father and sister, who introduced him to improvisational styles of music and meditation. He draws much of his inspiration from his zeal to the practice of meditation, channeling his third eye in the process. He states, " I listen to music, get in almost like a meditative sub conscious zone and start spraying/throwing paint on whatever surface or object I'm painting at the time."

Paige Miglio, Executive Director of Milford Arts Council states, "We are so excited to be showcasing John's artwork. John is a storyteller - his art seems to bring music to life with a dynamic sense of style, energetic movement, humor, and brilliant color. His art invites everyone to be embraced and enveloped by its vibrancy. The positive energy generated by John's art cannot be denied. We hope to draw people from all over the tri-state area to attend the two receptions, but we also hope people will return to the MAC multiple times to explore and experience the artwork in new ways. It will be well worth their time."
