A positive and uplifting tone is set from the start by Pamme Jones and Jeffery Albanesi who host the event and are among the performers. Lisa Riggs Hobbs is on stage left playing a keyboard, as the main accompaniment for the performers. Her keyboard skills are excellent at adapting to the different styles, keys, and octaves of the various performers.
There are some songs that the audience is encouraged to sing along to, as collective group numbers. This helps build the unity of the audience, and an ambiance of teamwork and support.
While some performers are booked prior to the event, the audience members are presented with the opportunity to sign up, during intermission, to perform during the second part of the show. A list of specific songs to choose from is provided, including show tunes, rock, country, pop, and more. Performers are free to bring their own guitars, or even to sing a cappella, if they would like to perform something that is not on the list, including their own original songs.
While no one is forced or coerced to appear on stage, this is an excellent venue for those who want to stretch out of their comfort zones, and publicly perform in a judgment-free atmosphere that is filled with encouraging and respectful patrons who are there to have a good time, with positive attitudes that radiate from stage to audience and from audience to stage.
On a personal level, I am grateful to have gone on stage and performed a song with my wife and two of our friends. I didn't come to the event expecting to be among the performers, but I am happy that I seized the opportunity that was made available. I highly encourage others to play an active role in what is a fun evening for all involved.
SPRING PIANO BAR...N 2018 is scheduled to run again, tonight, Saturday, April 21. New audiences bring new performances, but I am confident that the positive and friendly vibe that was experienced on Friday's show will also accompany tonight's performance.
