In The Spotlight has been run in Stratford, Connecticut for over 25 years. It has been a staple for students between 7th and 12th grade who wish to participate in musical theatre. In 2016, the Mighty Quinn Foundation was asked by the town to take over the program. For the past three summers, In The Spotlight has flourished as a theatrically engaging and educational program for middle school and high school students. Those involved not only gain experience on stage as actors, but also work to build connections with their other cast members.
This year, In The Spotlight is putting on Young Frankenstein. Young Frankenstein is the musical adaptation of the 1974 movie of the same name. The film starred Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Madeline Kahn, and Teri Garr. The musical counterpart hit Broadway in 2007 featuring Broadway stars Roger Bart, Christopher Fitzgerald, and Sutton Foster as well as Megan Mullaly (Karen on Will & Grace).
With a highly talented cast of youth performers, In The Spotlight is destined put on a rousing show. With a script that preserves all of the famous comedic beats of the movie and a fast paced tap dance to Puttin' On The Ritz the show is sure to entertain and be fun for the whole family.
The show performs at Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut. Performances are on July 26, 27, and 29th (matinee and evening performances on the 29th). Tickets can be purchased through In The Spotlight's website inthespotlight.org. Tickets are $12 and can be discounted to $10 with a group purchase of 16 tickets or more.
