It is the final weekend for WCT's opening production of the 2009 / 2010 season, a revival of Neil Simon's 1960s' hit comedy Barefoot in the Park.  The productions final performances are Friday, October 9 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, October 10 at 8:00 PM and Sunday, October 11 at 2:00 PM.

Barefoot in the Park is the funny and heartwarming romantic comedy about a newlywed couple who have just moved into a 6th floor apartment in New York City. Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He's a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she's a free spirit always looking for a new kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find... After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie's loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner where everything that can go wrong, does. Paul doesn't understand Corie - he's staid and she just wants to go running "barefoot through the park."

Under the excellent direction of Scott R. Brill, and produced by Kevin Moore, Barefoot in the Park marks the WCT debut of Merrie Trout and Richard Cummings as Paul and Corie Bratter and Martin Ripchick as Victor Velasco, the "Bluebeard of 48th Street"; WCT favorite Rosanne Nelson returns to Westport in the role of Corie's mother, as audiences are treated to another excellent performance by Marc Hartog as the telephone man. Some of Fairfield County's favorite actors make a special guest appearance - and we're not giving anything away! - alternating the cameo role at performances: Bob Lasprogato, Tom Petrone, John Pyron and Frank.

Rosanne Nelson (Corie's Mother, Mrs. Banks) Westport audiences may remember Rosanne from Rumors (Claire), Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Queen), Spider's Web (Mildred), The Man Who Came To Dinner (Lorraine), What The Butler Saw (Mrs. Prentice), A Chorus of Disapproval (Fay), Aristocrats (Alice), The Boyfriend (Madame Dubonnet) and Crimes of the Heart (Chick). At Stratford's Square One Theatre, Rosanne has appeared in The Grass Harp (Verena), Jake's Women (Edith) and The Best Man (Mabel), for which she won the Subscriber's Award for Best Actress. Other roles include Clairee in Steel Magnolias for the Darien Players, Gorgeous in The Sisters Rosensweig and Belinda in Noises Off at the Wilton Playshop; Elvira in Blithe Spirit (Eastound Theatre), Hippolita in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Juno in The Tempest (Putney Players) and the multiple roles of Joan Crawford, Jackie O. and Hedda Hopper in Hollywood Babylon at the Rich Forum. Barefoot in the Park is Rosanne's tenth production at Westport Community Theatre - a milestone!

Martin Ripchick (Victor Velasco) Martin has appeared in many community theatre productions
over the years; roles include Nat in I'm Not Rappaport; Nunzio in Over the River and Through the Woods; Mr. Van Daan, The Diary of Anne Frank; Charlie in Death of a Salesman and Van Helsing, Dracula.

Marc Hartog (Telephone Man) Westport audiences may recognize Marc from previous productions of Don't Drink the Water (Mr. Kilroy), A Few Good Men (Dr. Stone), Rumors (Ernie Cusack), Lend me a Tenor (Bellhop), Spider's Web, and The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Other area productions in recent years include Getting Away With Murder, Black Coffee, Room Service, Sly Fox (Darien); Arsenic and Old Lace (New Canaan); The Nerd, See How They Run, and The Mousetrap (Wilton); and Art (Milford).
