Annie Golden, Tina Packer and Anne K. Mulligan Are Guests on This Week's State of the Arts

This week (Friday, August 19), "Orange is the New Black" actor Annie Golden (inset), stage director Tina Packerand Connecticut Guild Artist Anne K. Mulligan are slated as guests on State of the ARTS, which airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon to 1pm on WPKN-FM (89.5) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Co-hosts of the weekly arts & entertainment program are Richard Pheneger and Peggy Nelson.

Annie Golden, (television's Orange is the New Black, Broadway's Violet, The Full Monty), a Screen Actors Guild Award-winner is starring in a new musical, Broadway BounTy Hunter, written specifically for her with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (Be More Chill, The Black Suits, Bloodsong of Love), book by Lance Rubin (author of Denton Little's Deathdate) and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Off Broadway: Once Upon A Mattress). Broadway BounTy Hunter is currently playing now through September 4 at Barrington Stage in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.

Tina Packer, (actor/playwright/stage director) is directing Elm Shakespeare Company's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Packer is the founding Artistic Director of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts. During her career, she has directed most of Shakespeare's plays, acted in seven of them and taught his entire canon one way or another at over thirty colleges in the United States. Performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream are scheduled under the stars at Edgerton Park in New Haven, Connecticut from August 18 through September 4.

Artist Anne K. Mulligan has stepped up to organize the 4th Annual Artists & Artisans in Paradise, a juried fine arts & crafts fair and festival that includes live music, food trucks and poetry readings on Paradise Green in Stratford, Connecticut. A production of the Coastal Arts Guild of Connecticut, the Artists and Artisans in Paradise is scheduled on Sunday, August 28 from 10am to 6pm.

State of the ARTS, featuring arts and entertainment personalities, airs LIVE each Friday from 12noon-1pm onWPKN-FM located at 89.5, streams worldwide online at wpkn.org and is now available via podcasts on WPKN Community Radio.
