Andrea Lynn Green And Michael Raver To Lead MTC Mainstage's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Image

Andrea Lynn Green (The Home Place) and Michael Raver (Death Comes For The War Poets) star in Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage's stunning and intimate production of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning drama of family, greed and sexual desire comes to life for MTC's 32nd Anniversary Season in Norwalk, Connecticut.

"The major focus of the piece is the repressive, puritanical and homophobic climate of the 1950's and how that literally destroys Skipper first and subsequently Brick," says director Kevin Connors. "While the LGBT movement made major headway from 2005 - 2017, the last 2 years have resulted in a major step backward, which is dangerous in general, not only legally, but culturally."

In a plantation house, a family celebrates the sixty-fifth birthday of Big Daddy, as they sentimentally dub him. The mood is somber, despite the festivities, because a number of evils poison the gaiety: greed, sins of the past and desperate, clawing hopes for the future spar with one another as the knowledge that Big Daddy is dying slowly makes the rounds. Maggie, Big Daddy's daughter-in-law, wants to give him the news that she's finally become pregnant by Big Daddy's favorite son, Brick, but Brick won't cooperate in Maggie's plans and prefers to stay in a mild alcoholic haze the entire length of his visit. Swarming around Maggie and Brick are their intrusive, conniving relatives, all eager to see Maggie put in her place and Brick tumbled from his position of most-beloved son. By evening's end, Maggie's ingenuity, fortitude and passion will set things right, and Brick's love for his father, never before expressed, will retrieve him from his path of destruction and return him, helplessly, to Maggie's loving arms.

Kevin Connors directs Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Gary Betsworth is stage manager. The creative team includes Tech Direction an Scenic Design by Kelly Burr Nelson, lighting design by Michael Blagys, sound design by Will Atkin, props design by Merrie Deitch, and costumes by Diane Vanderkroef.

Appearing alongside Green and Raver will be Frank Mastrone as Big Daddy and Cindy Hannah as Big Mamma. Rob Mobley will take up the role of Gooper, Liz Donnelly will play the role of Mae, the Preacher will be played by Jim Schilling, Jeff Gurner will appear as Doc Baugh.

Ticket prices range from $30-$55, and are available now online at www.musictheatreofct.com or by phone at (203) 454-3883.
