Internationally known singers Alfreda Burke and Rodrick Dixon will be the featured performers at a concert to be held at Spring Glen Church, Hamden, Conn. on Thursday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Both are acclaimed performers excelling in a wide range of musical styles, performing with opera companies and symphonic orchestras throughout the world, and perhaps best-known for their starring role in the PBS production Hallelujah Broadway (Prague, 2010) which airs frequently on PBS stations nationally.
Dixon was a member of the acclaimed group 3 Mo' Tenors, and starred in the PBS Great Performances episode "Cook, Dixon & Young Volume One."
The concert will feature selections from their show HALLELUJAH BROADWAY, including excerpts from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, CAROUSEL, WICKED, SHOWBOAT and RAGTIME, as well as beloved opera arias and American spirituals. In addition to Dixon and Burke, the Southern Cnnecticut State University choir will perform spiritual arrangements by William Dawson and Moses Hogan, and choral pieces by Morten Lauridsen and Eric Whitacre.
