Following the sold-out run of "Mamma Mia!," ACT of Connecticut (A Contemporary Theatre) is excited to present the next show in its inaugural schedule. Ridgefield's new state-of-the-art theater will produce the acclaimed Broadway musical EVITA from October 4-28.
Artistic Director, Daniel C. Levine has assembled an all-star, professional Equity cast including Julia Estrada as Eva Perón and Ryan K. Bailer as her husband, Juan Perón. The role of Che Guevara is played by Angel Lozada-who performed in NBC's recent live production of Jesus Christ Superstar-and Agustín Magaldi is played by Julian Alvarez. MARLENA LOPEZ-HILDERLEY performs as Perón's teenaged mistress. The talented cast is rounded out by Paul Aguirre, Alex Caldwell, Morgan Harrison, Jordan Fife Hunt, Alison Mahoney, Daniel Marhelko, Monica Ramirez, Erick Sanchez-Canahuate, Mia Scarpa, Daniel Schwait, and Kyle White.
"We felt strongly that our cast of Evita should be heavily composed of Latinx talent," said Daniel C. Levine. "I can't wait for our audiences to see this ridiculously talented and diverse group of actors that we have put together for this production. Our Evita company truly represents the community that is meant to tell this riveting and historically significant story."
Winner of seven Tony Awards, EVITA tells the passionate and unforgettable life story of Eva Perón, who used her beauty and charisma to escape the slums of Argentina to become the country's First Lady by the age of 27. Adored by her people as a champion of the poor, she was one of the most powerful women in the world - until her vast ambition and fragile health made her one of the most tragic. This legendary musical is filled with show-stopping numbers, like the memorable anthem "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." The score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice perfectly captures the complexity of an illegitimate child who became "the spiritual leader of the nation" and one of history's most dramatic figures.
Performances of EVITA are October 4 - October 28, Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Show dates are already selling out and ACT of CT is encouraging theater enthusiasts to invest in its annual subscription (season ticket) packages. Purchase tickets HERE.
