The Westport Country Playhouse has added A RAISIN IN THE SUN, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING and a world premiere by Tony Award nominee Chad Beguelin to its 2012 season.
Westport Country Playhouse will begin its season May 1-19, 2012, with INTO THE WOODS.
The Playhouse's artistic director,
Mark Lamos, will stage the co-production with Baltimore Center Stage.
Next up will be
Joan Didion's YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING starring Tony nominee
Maureen Anderman. It will run June 12-30, 2012.
Molière's TARTUFFE will play 17-Aug. 4, 2012.
Lamos will also stage the world premiere of HARBOUR by Tony Award-nominated Beguelin, who was the lyricist and book co-author of WEDDING SINGER. HARBOUR will run from Aug. 28-Sept. 15, 2012.
When 15-year-old Lottie and her ne'er-do-well mother Donna drop in unannounced on the beautiful Sag Harbor home of Donna's brother Kevin and his new husband Ted, all the usual tensions quickly bubble to the surface. Then Donna reveals she's pregnant, does not know the father, and would like her brother to raise the child-and all hell breaks loose. The bonds between kith and kin are tested in this alternately biting, touching and hilarious new comedy about the constantly shifting nature of the meaning of family.
The final production of the season will be
Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISING IN THE SUN, closing the season Oct. 9-Nov. 3, 2012.
Subscriptions are currently available. Single tickets will go on sale March 6, 2012. For tickets, visit
