The Windham Theatre Guild ends their 2011-2012 season with a comedy classic by Noel Coward, Blithe Spirit, opening Friday May 18th at the Burton Leavitt Theatre.

Blithe Spirit, directed by Victor Funderburk, is a “spirited” drawing room comedy about socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. The scheme backfires when he is haunted by the ghost of his annoying and temperamental first wife, Elvira, following the séance. Elvira makes continual attempts to disrupt Charles's marriage to his second wife, Ruth, who cannot see or hear the ghost. When Ruth is accidentally killed and "passes over", she joins Elvira and the two "blithe spirits" haunt the hapless Charles into perpetuity.

Blithe Spirit runs May 18, 19 & June 1, 2, 8, & 9, 2012 at 8 pm, Thursday June 7 at 7:30pm and Sunday June 3, 2012 at 2 pm at the Burton Leavitt Theatre, 779 Main Street, Willimantic. Ticket prices are $16 for Adults, $13 for Students/Seniors, and $9 for children under 12. All UCONN, ECSU & QVCC students pay the discounted price of $10. Group discounts are also available.
