Resident co-founder/co-artistic director Sean Harris will be directing the American masterpiece Angels in America: Part 1: Millennium Approaches to kick off Playhouse on Park's sixth season. Winner of the 1993 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, the first part of Tony Kushner's epic depicts life in America during the 1980s. Touching upon the provocative topics of politics, religion, and the AIDS epidemic, Angels in America has been hailed as "a searching and radical rethinking of American political drama" (New York Times) and "the most ambitious American Play of our time" (Newsweek). This production is recommended for audiences sixteen and up.

Featured in this production are Jim Shankman (Broadway: Grease, Once in a Lifetime; Off-Broadway: Perfect Crime) as Roy Cohn and Rae C. Wright (Obie Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatre; Off-Broadway: The Seagull, Angels in America) as Hannah. The eight person cast, in which actors will play multiple roles, also includes Kristen Harlow (Youngblood/EST Brunches member; Edinburgh Fringe Festival: Farenheit 451; Allentown Shakespeare Festival: Lady Macbeth, Viola) as Harper, James Parenti (Dare Lab: Hamlet (May Violets Spring; Hip to Hip: Navarre (Love's Labour's Lost); Bare Shakespeare: Bertram (All's Well That Ends Well) as Prior, Marty Scanlon (Manhattan Rep: Ben (The Party's Over); The Strange Tree Group: Evan (The War Plays) as Louis, Tim Hackney (National Tour: The Drowsy Chaperone) as Joe, Clark Beasley Jr. (Playhouse on Park: Of Mice and Men) as Belize, and Olivia Hoffman (Hartford Stage, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company) as the Angel and others.
