Music Professor Harold Hill has arrived in River City, Iowa, in 1912 for the purpose of forming a boy’s marching band. He swoops into town and creates a false frenzy by declaring the local pool hall as the source of all things immoral. Harold declares that River City’s “Trouble with a capital ‘T’” can only be corrected if the townspeople fork over their money to him for band uniforms and instruments. The town embraces the charming newcomer and his marching-band scheme — but what they don’t know is that the “professor” is actually a fake. He’s only a con man just looking to grab a quick buck and then scram before the townspeople can run him out of town. But when Harold falls for Marian Paroo, the prim and proper town librarian, will he answer his heart and tell the truth before time runs out?
