Incident at Vichy

A play by Arthur Miller, Incident at Vichy centers on a detention room of a Vichy police station in 1942, at the height of World War II.
Eight men have been picked up for questioning on their religious status. While the men intellectually understand their situation, they remain in denial of what is seen as an inevitable outcome.
The story focuses on two of the prisoners and a German police officer, who engage in dramatic confrontation over suspicions, superficiality, sacrifice, and the significance of individual human existence. Ultimately, the play explores the right of life and how the atrocities of the Holocaust were perpetuated for so long, as well as what it takes to prove the concern and honor of decent people everywhere.
