Summertime is almost here. The weather is gorgeous, pools reopen, shorts are pulled out of storage and the sound of the ice cream truck can be heard wafting through the air. Shadowbox is well aware that not many people want to leave this beautiful outdoor atmosphere to come inside for a show unless it's really worth it, so they're upping the ante and bringing out the big guns. That's right, it's time again for Best of Shadowbox, opening June 10th at the Easton Town Center.
Best of Shadowbox will include songs and sketches from last year's Spring and Fall shows, Bad to the Bone and Born to Be Wild and this year's winter show Shadowbox After Dark. "We had some very strong shows this year," says Executive Producer and CEO Stev Guyer, "It was difficult to select from such strong material. The key is to pick the pieces the audience enjoyed the most, regardless of how much we liked them."
In true Shadowbox fashion, Guyer and his production team have put all the chosen material under a microscope. "We've reviewed, rewritten, and revised the sketches and songs, revisited our costume and lighting design concepts, and added subtle production elements to nearly everything," continued Guyer.
Guyer says they do this for two reasons. "We're always learning from the audience. Our shows are a direct reflection of their feedback and we constantly apply that feedback to our productions. But, perhaps more importantly, our audience is populated with people who saw a show recently and want to share that experience with friends. They have an expectation based on their memory of their experience with us. We must not only meet, but exceed, that expectation for our returning patrons while setting the bar for ourselves with our first-time patrons."
