Shadowbox and The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Greater Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, Central Ohio Region are proud to announce an evening featuring three wish children sharing a passion for the performing arts. Wish kids Olivia, Chase and Richard will perform alongside Shadowbox actors, singers, musicians, and dancers for a one-night-only performance featuring the young talents.
The show, aptly titled Make-A-Wish Upon a Star!, will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 7:00 PM (doors open at 5:45 PM) at Shadowbox at the Easton Town Center.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It is through the magic of a wish that the Foundation gives a family hope, strength and joy to briefly alleviate the stresses of a serious medical condition. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America was founded in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona, and has grown into the largest and most professional wish granting organization in the world with 67 chapters in the United States. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Central Ohio Region fulfilled the individual wishes of 123 local children last fiscal year; more than 140 children are currently awaiting their wish.
These three wish children are pooling their talents to raise funds for another child's wish. The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Shadowbox will utilize the successes and talents of Olivia, Chase, and Richard as a means to give hope to another family.
All box office proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Central Ohio Region. "We've set a goal to raise $6,500--the value of a wish," said Stacie Boord, Shadowbox Community Relations Director.
The three children will be given a red carpet greeting, complete with paparazzi, prior to show time, and will be available for photo and autograph opportunities after the show.
"We want to make the event feel like the most special thing that ever happened to these kids," continued Boord. "They are the stars."
Olivia, age 8, will be performing a dance routine choreographed specifically for her; Chase, age 17, will be acting in Shadowbox's signature comedy sketches; and Richard, age 17, will be playing guitar with Shadowbox house band BillWho?.
All three will participate in one-on-one rehearsals with Shadowbox directors, producers, choreographers, and performers leading up to the show.
Tickets for the heart-warming, unique event range from a $25 general admission ticket to $250, $500, and $1,000 VIP tables with commensurate amenities. All contributions are tax-deductible.
