In Spring 2014, Shadowbox Live premiered a unique, new genre of performance, Gallery of Echoes: The CMA Experience, a seamless blending of disparate art disciplines (including music, video and dance), inspired by 21 pieces from the permanent collection at the Columbus Museum of Art.

This summer, the troupe plans to once again bridge the gap between visual art and performance art with its second installment of Echoes, this time featuring local artists.

Teaming up with the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Shadowbox Live will premiere Gallery of Echoes: The ColumbUS Public Art Project first, as part of the Columbus Arts Festival, then in a limited run at Shadowbox Live's Brewery District Theater, 503 S. Front Street.

Shadowbox Live Executive Producer and CEO Stev Guyer describes this experimental performance genre, "As observers, it's easy to consider different disciplines of art as completely separate beasts. However, we feel that all art is connected at very base and very visceral levels. Art inspired by art inspired by art. That is what Gallery of Echoes represents."

With the help of GCAC, Shadowbox Live got the project off the ground last summer by selecting pieces submitted by local artists for inclusion in the production.

Next, the band 'Light', comprised of Shadowbox Live musicians, took on the challenge of composing original music for each work of art, while Video Editors David Whitehouse and Zach Tarantelli spearheaded the effort to develop video that will bring each piece to life in stunning detail.

Dance, vocal performance, and spoken word are sprinkled throughout the evening, enveloping the audience in the story of the artwork, allowing them to them the art like never before.

"This city has unbelievably deep roots in the arts," says Guyer, "and it's time for the rest of the country to begin to see that side of us. This production is the perfect way to celebrate our artists while we educate others on the amazing arts scene we have in Columbus."

Shadowbox Live will present Gallery of Echoes: The ColumbUS Public Art Project in two free performances, June 10 and 11 at 9:00pm on the ABC6 Main Stage.

"We want as many people as possible to experience this performance," says Stacie Boord, Community Relations Director for Shadowbox Live. "Even if they're just walking through the Arts Festival and pause for a moment. We want to show people that all art forms are related, all are meant to be celebrated and all can be used to better appreciate the others."

An eight-performance run at the Shadowbox Live Front Street theater will follow, June 15 & 16 at 7:30pm, June 17 & 18 7:30pm & 10:30pm, Jun 19 2:00pm & 7:00pm. Tickets range from $25 - $40 (student/senior/military discounts available for all performances).

A 45-minute matinee version of the production is planned for Thursday, June 16 at 1:00pm. Matinee tickets are $10.
