Next Wednesday, March 1st, Shadowbox Live and Six in the City: Columbus will present a unique, one night only show: Six in the City: Live! at Shadowbox!
Larry Smith, founder of the popular Six Word Memoir and creator of Six in the City: Columbus, approached Stacie Boord, Shadowbox Live's Community Relations Director, with the possibility of performing a special "Student/Mentor Evening of Stories" on the Shadowbox Live stage.
"After hearing about the event, it seemed to fit in line with our philosophies and how we approach education," says Boord. "Mentoring is one of the most effective methods of teaching, not only in the Performing Arts. I think this event will be a wonderful example of what mentoring can do."
The evening will feature students giving talks and stories after having been mentored for several months. Mentors participating include The Harmony Project's David Brown, poet and minister Barbara Fant, writer Amy Turn Sharp, Creative Control Fest co-founder Marshall Shorts, educator Kim Leddy, Dick & Jane Project's Ben Shinabery, Musicologie's Joseph Barker, video artist Keida Mascaro, as well as Boord and Smith themselves.
"Every aspect of the show - from the show poster to the music that will greet you and of course the stories themselves - will be the work of the stories," says Smith. "It will be a fun, and fascinating, evening."
Six in the City: Live! at Shadowbox will be presented on Wednesday, March 1st at 7 PM. Tickets are $20, $10 for Seniors and Students. VIP tables available. To make reservations or for more information, call (614) 416-7625 or visit www.shadowboxlive.org.
