If you're a local stand up comedian looking for a venue, or simply a fan looking for a place to indulge your comedic tastes, Shadowbox Live has good news for you!  A bimonthly event begins this Tuesday, January 17, in the Backstage Bistro: Stand Up at Shadowbox Live!

The new venture is being spear-headed by local comedian Justin Golak, who recently teamed up with Shadowbox Live Head Writer Jimmy Mak in an effort to meet the demand for a regular stand up comedy venue.

"Local comedians have really been rallying for a place to perform," says Mak.  "We have the perfect space in the Backstage Bistro and a night available for it.  It just makes sense."

While Shadowbox Live is thrilled to house the experience, Stand Up at Shadowbox Live is truly Golak's event.  He is hosting and producing the event, as well as booking the talent and even performing himself.

In addition to Golak's performance, the first Stand Up at Shadowbox Live features a line-up of local comedians, including Travis Hoewischer, Sumukh Torgalkar, Mark Lucas, and Michael Meyers, and the Cleveland-based headliner, Bill Squire.

Stand Up at Shadowbox Live begins on Tuesday, January 17 at 8 PM in Shadowbox Live's Backstage Bistro at 503 S. Front Street, and continues every first and third Tuesdays every month.  Tickets are $5.  For more information and reservations, call theShadowbox Live Box Office at 614-416-7625.

Shadowbox Live is sponsored by Costume Specialties, Concord Hospitality, Crawford Communities, Dr. Robert Lowe, Family Physicians of Gahanna, Outlook, Professional Eye Care Associates, WCBE, Andrews Movers, Revolution Rock Art Galleries.
